Pilot for the next DC show “Krypton” nears greenlight

Krypton

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that a pilot for the next television show based on the DC universe is nearing greenlight status over on SfFy. This project has been in the works since late 2014, but has been stuck in development ever since that announcement.

If the show does make it to pilot, the show will feature creator talent including writer Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time), director Colm McCarthy (Sherlock) and showrunner Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow)

The show synopsis places it 200 years before Superman’s exist from the exploding plant. This would give the writers a lot of creative freedom from the current DC Universe, while telling a story most of us haven’t yet heard. Whether fans want to watch a DC series with no distinct heroes (cough, cough, Gotham) is still up in the air, let alone heading to the SyFy channel to catch it.
