Pokémon Sword And Shield Announced For The Switch

Pokémon

Silly Rabbit, your Trix are on fire.

In today’s Pokémon-centered Nintendo Direct, brand-new mainline games in the Pokémon series were announced for the Switch. The new entries are titled Pokémon Sword and Shield. You can catch the full Direct below:

Pokémon Sword and Shield take place in the Galar region, which is based off of Great Britain in keeping with the tradition of basing regions on real life countries (or parts of countries). And there are also three new starters for you to choose from for your journey into the world of ELF’S Pokémon.

  • Grookey (Grass): Described as curious and mischievous. Will likely, at some point, need most of Smithers’ skin.
  • Scorbunny (Fire): Described as energetic, and always running about. Probably ate too many bowls of Trix.
  • Sobble (Water): Described as timid, attacking with water from hiding. I can’t think of anything funny to say about it.

Also revealed is the fact that Pokémon Sword and Shield will release later this year. Granted, there’s no specific date, but we’ll probably get one soon enough. There’s also the promise of more to come dangling there, but those secrets are also for another time.
