Portable Atari Mini Pong Jr.: Pong On The Go In A Sleek Case

Pong

Pong? Poooooooooooooong!

So Atari’s VCS still isn’t out yet. Pretty sure we’re way past that planned launch, but I really don’t want to go back and check just for accuracy’s sake at this point. Lucky for Atari, the Virus is a convenient, blanket excuse. So, while you wait for that there VCS you funded, tennis Pong, anyone?

Atari teamed up with UNIS Technology, Ltd. to put out a tiny, portable Pong table. You may or may not be familiar with UNIS’s work; they make arcade cabinets that are decidedly on the high end, and have, in the past, made a coffee table sized Pong table that’ll run you a few thousand dollarydoos.

As for the Mini Pong Jr., though, there’s no word on the intended MSRP. But it does look nice, as far as these things are concerned. Measuring just under 12 inches, it pretty much offers the height of Pong experiences on the go. 2 player support, can run on either onboard Li-Ion battery or via USB cable, even comes with a single player mode. And while it stays true to the original experience, it does have a color screen.

Atari promises the mini will launch “exclusively online this holiday season”. And Arcade1Up will handle North American distribution.

We are delighted to collaborate with the creative minds at UNIS to create a new arcade-inspired PONG gaming machine for fans. Available soon online, the Atari Mini PONG Jr. is the perfect gift for Atari fans and collectors interested in experiencing the simple-yet-challenging gameplay of PONG in a tangible, more immersive way.

Fred Chesnais, CEO, Atari

We are extremely excited to be working with Atari on developing the Atari Mini PONG Jr. We previously launched several PONG tables for the amusement coin-op industry in partnership with Calinfer, and those products have done exceptionally well. PONG is truly an incredible license. I am looking forward to seeing the Atari Mini PONG Jr. hit the consumer market!
