PS4 NEO to Get Upgraded Specs

PS4 NEO

Reports have been circulating for a little while know about a PS4.5 that would launch alongside the upcoming PSVR. The latest reports seem to point to the code-name “NEO” for this new PS4 system. We are also hearing that it will release priced at $399.

Gaming site Giant Bomb, speaking with anonymous sources close to the project, states that this new PlayStation 4 will feature a higher clock speed, a better Graphical Processing Unit (GPU), and will be loaded with higher bandwidth memory.

This new bump in power will also force developers, starting in October, to ship and “base mode” that will be compatible across both PS4 models. Those that have the new NEO model of the PS4 will be able to take advantage of the “NEO mode” that will tap into the upgraded consoles new power. On a positive note, Giant Bomb’s sources sate that no game will be released that will be NEO only, so gamers won’t have to worry about missing out on anything.

The PS4 NEO is expected to launch this October alongside the new PlayStation VR headset. More information is expected by E3 this summer.
