Raspberry Pi Zero Is Your $5 Computer

Raspberry Pi Zero

Low-cost computers have been around for a little while now, but how about a computer so cheap that it could be included free when you pick up a magazine? That’s the case with the Raspberry Pi Zero, but it’s also available now for sale on the Pi website for the low, low-cost of $5. This little piece of kit is smaller than a credit card, and is more powerful than the original Pi that the company released.

The new Raspberry Pi Zero comes equipped with:

Broadcom BCM2835 processor (1GHz ARM11 core)

512MB of RAM

microSD card slot

Mini-HDMI socket supporting 1080p (at 60 frames per second)

Micro-USB sockets

While this little computer isn’t for everyone, at $5 its a great start for people getting into Linux (lots of free versions available) as well as those looking to experiment.
