Report: Nintendo To Stop Production On The By Wii U Years End

Wii U

Nikkei is reporting (translated by God is Geek) that Nintendo will be ceasing production on it Wii U console by the end of this year. The same report also states that the company has already stopped production on a number of Wii U accessories.

This does not mean that Wii U consoles will be pulled from shelves, but this report seems to coincide with the release of Nintendo’s next console code-named NX this holiday season.

More interesting is that the new NX console will drop this holiday season, but only in a portable format. The console portion of the console will release sometime in 2017.

The NX has been rumored to be a console/portable hybrid and this report seems to confirm that. While we think the holiday 2016 is the timeline for the NX, analysts have stated that we could see it as early as this summer.
