In response to his grandfather’s death, indie developer releases “Evangeline” to connect loved ones

Raconteur Games launches Evangeline free on PC

Louisiana developer Raconteur Games today announced the launch of their second title for PC, Evangeline. The short first-person narrative game explores the universal themes of love, loss and grief.

Raconteur CEO, Nicholas Laborde, was inspired to create Evangeline after his grandfather passed away in April 2016. Laborde founded Raconteur Games whilst a freshman student at the University of Louisiana, where he is now currently completing his MBA.

Set in a monochrome neighborhood, players are guided by the appearance of colors, and must explore the world to piece together the narrative. The game has been designed as a fifteen-minute story that the developers hope will help connect players with their loved ones, while there is still time.

“2016 was a rough year for everyone, including for us here in Louisiana with the flooding, and for me personally – the loss of my grandfather. Evangeline is a very personal experience about putting more love and kindness into the world and appreciating our loved ones as we enter a new year with new challenges.” – Nicholas Laborde:

Evangeline has been released completely free on the game’s website. Players are given the choice to pay what they think the experience was worth after finishing the game.
