Ripple Gives $29 Million in its Cryptocurrency to Schools

A nice gesture.

Look, I’m just about this far away from being openly hostile to cryptocurrency. I think I wind up with all of the articles about it because our EiC thinks it’s funny how much I hate it. But at least, this time, it’s involved in something good.

Ripple owns the lions share of its 100 billion XRP currency (around 60 billion). And, as a magnanimous gesture, they donated $29 million worth through DonorsChoose.org, with the express purpose of giving to the public school systems of all 50 states.

The move helps provide materials fpr more than 28,000 teachers. And while that may be a drop in the bucket as far as public education is concerned, it’s still a pretty cool thing.
