Rise of the Tomb Raider heading to PS4 and PC in 2016

Rise of the Tomb Raider

I’d like to think that my utterly thought-provoking article where I broke down why having Rise of the Tomb Raider as a console exclusive was a terrible idea is in some small part why this news is coming out today. I mean, it’s not, but I’ll still think that because that’s just the way I roll. Anyways, Square Enix have announced that the next game in the Lara Croft murder simulator series will be hitting the PC in early 2016 while the PS4 version will release during Holiday 2016.

So after all the hullabaloo late last year it would seem that all the money Microsoft threw at the franchise could only score them a timed exclusive. This is great news for gamers of course, but having to wait a year to get it on the PS4 is a bit of a bummer; although I do expect the game to be bundled with all the DLC and guff that comes out in-between.  Still, it’s not often that a version of a major console game drops on the PC before one of those fancy next generation consoles, so I pretty happy.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will premiere first, exclusively on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10, 2015.
