Russo Brothers adapting ‘The Warriors’ for Hulu

The Warriors

“Can you dig it!”

The Russo brothers (Joe and Anthony) have had one heck of a year with the release of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, but before the dive back into another Marvel project they have other plans. One of those is adapting the cult-classic film The Warriors into an hour-long drama for Hulu alongside Paramount TV.

The show will look to honor the original film from 1979, but the duo will add their own distinct touch to expand on the ideas presented in the film. The project will also feature Frank Baldwin helping with writing duties. The brothers are handling directing duties on the pilot, but there is no word on how many episodes they will helm in the directors seat.

The Russo brothers are the big thing in Hollywood right now, so they should have carte blanche to do some really cool things. While I haven’t seen The Warriors in years, the video game based on the film also has a sort of cult status as well and is quite good. The film revolves around gangs of New York during a time where the city has been torn apart by constant fighting. The Warriors are falsely accused of killing a new leader and must make their way to their home turf while every gang and cop in the city is out for blood.
