SDCC 2017: Walking Dead Cancels Press Events in Wake of Stuntman’s Death

[Snarky joke heading absent]

AMC series The Walking Dead has cancelled all of it’s press events for SDCC; with the exception of their panel and autograph sessions. This stems from the tragic death of stuntman John Bernecker. He died after falling 20 feet from a balcony onto a concrete floor while filming a scene with Austin Amelio (Dwight). Showrunner Scott Gimple’s statement:

Our production is heartbroken by the tragic loss of John Bernecker. John’s work on The Walking Dead and dozens of other movies and shows will continue to entertain and excite audiences for generations.

We are grateful for his contributions, and all of us send our condolences, love, and prayers to John’s family and friends.
