Senate Votes in Favor of Saving Net Neutrality

Net Neutrality

Life of Pai: Part III: Chipwrecked

Remember that vote for net neutrality in the senate? Well, you’ll be happy to hear that it passed 52-47 this Wednesday. This means that the net neutrality protections the FCC did away with are back.

Well… not exactly. It’s merely the beginning of of the path to reversing the FCC’s decision. The Senate’s Democrats put forth resolution to engage the Congressional Review Act, which allows them to review regulations by agencies  in a legislative process. The CRA is what passed, and that’s thanks to three republican senators: Susan Collins, John Kennedy, and Lisa Murkowski.

It’s still far from over. It has to make it through the House of Representatives before things look like they’re anywhere close to the clear. And that’s not counting the possibility of a Presidential veto. Still, it’s a spark of hope, so take it while you can, I guess.
