The @GAMEBrighton Twitter account (UK based games store) tweeted this morning about the existence of a Shovel Knight amiibo. This is big news as not only is Shovel Knight an incredible game and beautiful homage to the 2D platformers of the NES era, but it marks the very first non first-party amiibo we are getting. That’s right, Shovel Knight isn’t a Nintendo property and was released on nearly every platform available. This opens up the idea of us amiibo lovers getting more characters from other great non-Nintendo series.

While the tweet itself was pulled after going up a little be early, the internet isn’t the place for posted information to just go away, especially when it comes to amiibo news. The figure will unlock content on Shovel Knight for both Wii U and 3DS editions. Word is that it will also open up new goodies in future Yacht Club Games titles!

The Shovel Knight amiibo is supposed to drop on November 27th in the UK with a North America hopefully soon after.
