Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice E3 Impressions

Sonic Boom Fire & Ice E3

Sonic Boom, as a franchise, holds an odd place in the minds of gamers. The first two games were… not good. As a matter of fact, the Wii U version, at the very least, was completely and utterly broken, to the point of becoming a massive joke. Meanwhile, the show is actually pretty damn funny. Every liquid looks like CG Nickelodeon Gak, though.

That being said, I got the chance to play around with Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice on the 3DS. And I can honestly say, it wasn’t bad. They’ve clearly put in the time to fix all of the things that went wrong last time, at the very least.

It controlled well, and most of the times I ran into trouble were honestly my own fault (getting buttons mixed up, etc.). I could easily see it doing well, doubly so if they take the same path to writing the plot as the show (why they didn’t do so in the previous games is baffling).

So in honor of their achievement, I am now awarding them my made-up-on-the-spot “Best Improovement Over Last Time”* award. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some space to visit.
