They say that the arcade is dead, that nobody goes out when you can easily download games that far surpass anything arcades can do. Well, I’m here to tell you that the arcades are seeing a resurgence, and not just with the bar-cade scene.
I will admit that things are different, it’s now more about what new experiences you can bring to market because it is true that games at home look better and last longer. Star Wars: Battle Pod is one such game that takes an experience that can’t be replicated at home and creates a truly arcade only adventure.
Star Wars: Battle Pod puts players into the pilot seat of famous Star Wars fighters in a massive cabinet with a dome display. Bandai-Namco are the masters in arcade hardware that still pump out incredible arcade only titles, which is why they are the team tasked with bringing this project to market. Their expertise shows in the video below and makes me hope that an arcade near me picks up one of these units soon. What am I saying, Disneyland is a few hours south and will definitely have one.
