Stargirl Live-Action Series Headed to DC Universe

Stargirl

SDCC keeps on rolling.

Warner’s DC Universe isn’t just going to rest on their laurels. They really gotta prime the pump, especially after the line “Fuck Batman!” was uttered onscreen. And so, Stargirl is getting an adaptation, with Greg Berlanti set to executive produce. And before you get upset, the character’s creator, Geoff Johns, is going to be at the helm. And, according to Deadline, it’s a personal project of his:

Obviously, Stargirl was the first character I created for DC. Most important, Courtney Whitmore was inspired by my sister who passed away.To have an opportunity to tell a story celebrating this superhero was literally the first thing I wanted to do because it is so personal to me. Also, a character that speaks to being young, to a legacy and to pushing forward seems so important to me nowadays.

While it’s definitely happening, don’t expect it too soon. DC Universe launches later this year, true. But Stargirl won’t be happening until 2019.
