Steam Library Gets A Facelift And New Features

Steam

You can try it out on September 17th.

Valve is of the impression that your Steam Library page needs a bit of an overhaul. So that’s what they’re doing. Starting September 17th, you’ll be able to opt into a beta to test out the new Library page on Steam, as well as the new features of said page.

First up, they’re giving the Library page a bit of sprucing up. The new design looks pretty good, and is noticeably clean and modern. But that’s not all.

It also gives you better access to game updates, recently played games, friends activity and collections. Specifically, they’re making it easier to stay on top of game updates, as well as what your friends are playing. The updates in particular give you a better idea of what’s changed with a game, among other things.

The other thing the new layout is meant to do is give you a better heads up regarding in-game events. And its meant to do so without bombarding you with notifications. Coincidentally, this also provides a number of tools for developers, specifically. It’ll be easier than ever to let players know that a game has been updated, or has a special event going on, even if they haven’t played in a while.

Granted, this is all still a beta right now. There will no doubt be some uneven patches. But it seems to be heading somewhere great, if you can pardon their dust.
