Stephen Elop taking over Xbox Division

Stephen Elop, former Nokia head, will be taking over the Microsoft DnS (Devices and Studios) division. This department includes Surface, Xbox and the studios under Xbox. This all comes from an internal memo that was posted by website TechCrunch.

You may be asking what does this news mean for us gamers? Well, Elop was the same person who was on the short list to become Microsoft CEO last year. During the time that Microsoft was searching for a new CEO, Elop made statements that if he was placed in charge he would cut the Xbox Division from the Microsoft portfolio.

You heard me right, sell off the entire Xbox Division. Not only did he want to sell off Xbox, he wanted to get rid of Bing as well.

The news (while still technically unofficial) that the man who had every intention of selling Xbox and thinking the brand was a leech to Microsoft is a major concern, not only to us gamers but to many development houses around the world.

How can a man who has publicly made such claims be trusted to do whats in the best interest of the Xbox brand?
