Street Fighter Next Up To Get The Video Game To Movie Treatment

Street Fighter

Of course!

Yeah, Street Fighter is getting another crack at being a movie. On Wednesday (one goddamn day late), Capcom announced their partnership with Legendary Entertainment to once again bring Street Fighter to the silver screen.

Granted, it’s not much of a surprise, as April 3rd saw the news that Legendary had acquired film and TV rights to the IP. That said, confirmation of a film is a pretty big deal. Let’s just hope that it turns out well, as opposed to the 2009 Chun-Li-focused film.

The announcement comes at a pretty decent time for Capcom. The next installment in the venerable fighting game series drops on June 2nd this year. And who knows? Maybe this’ll pave the way for other Capcom IP’s to get the big (or small) screen treatment. Why, they might even revive Breath of Fire, which hasn’t had a new game in over 20 years, and barely, if any, crossover material even when it might make sense for it to be there. I’m not mad, you’re mad.
