The Game Awards

In the name of the Dew, the ‘Ritos and the holy Gamer Fuel, Amen.

The Game Awards have come and went. And much like that hack Santa Claus, our holy Dewritos Pope has brought us a bounty of glittering prizes; not to have, but to want.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Coming out just in time for the end of the generation. Pre-order your PS5, kids.

Godfall

Dubbed a “Looter-Slasher” by dev Counterplay Games, published by Gearbox. Contains zero discernible memes, making it A-OK in my book. First announced game for the PS5, as far as I know.

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story and CONV/RGENCE: A League of Legends Story

Single-player LoL games, developed by Airship Syndicate (Darksiders Genesis) for the former, and Double Stallion Games for the latter. Little more than teasers, so it’ll be a while before there’s much for those of us that don’t follow League lore.

Gears Tactics

Humankind

Imagine Civilization, only without the historical leaders.

Maneater

A real ShaRPG. Remember Jaws: The Game? Well, this is that, but better, and with the serial numbers filled off. Has nothing to do with the Hall & Oates song.

Warframe: Empyrean expansion

Control: Expeditions Update

Prologue

This is PlayerUnknown’s next game. You now know as much about it as I do.

The Wolf Among Us 2

AdHoc, a studio started by former Telltale staff, is helping the newly reconstituted Telltale develop the sequel to one of their best games.

Fast & Furious Crossroads

Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez got up on stage to talk about this one, and how they’d spend time between takes on the movies playing Tak-ken. Look, I don’t blame them for showing up to the Game Awards drunk. I’m pretty sure that’s the only reasonable way to do it. Especially considering, you know…

The Elder Scrolls Online: Skyrim Expansion

It’s time to go back to Tamriel, because Todd ain’t just gonna let you leave.

Naraka: Bladepoint

Developed by Chinese studio 24 Entertainment, it looks like it blends all the cool shit in Chinese historical martial arts fantasy movies with the gameplay of something that straddles the line between a bunch of other, successful series. And I mean that in a good way.

New World

Nine to Five

A 3v3 shoooter that is Anthill Games first project. Contains 0% Dolly Parton.

Magic: Legends

I haven’t played anything Magic: the Gathering related in years. But this MMO does have a pretty decent team behind it: Cryptic Studios, known for Neverwinter, Star Trek Online, and City of Heroes.

Weird West

If you’re familiar with the genre the game is titled for, then you know what to expect.

Sons of the Forest

A Story-focused sequel to The Forest.

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance

I don’t know what the hell is up with the camera stuff in this trailer. But given the presence of Drizzt and the crew, maybe it’s based in Forgotten Realms? Or possibly a big old crossover game? Either way, mild hype.

Ghost of Tsushima

Bravely Default II

In sort of a crazy twist, technically the 4th game in the series. Either way, Bravely Default was the best Final Fantasy game made in a decade and a half, so I’m gonna love it, at least. It’s gonna be really pretty, and have a bitchin’ soundtrack, since Revo is back.

No More Heroes 3

Look, I love me some Suda51. Really laid it on thick with the ET thing. But I’m super hyped. Especially thanks to that AKIRA slide. This one’s for the fans.
