Tokyo Ghoul gets mobile game with Tokyo Ghoul: Dark War

Tokyo Ghoul fans can now join GameSamba’s free-to-play mobile game “Tokyo Ghoul: Dark War”

Tokyo Ghoul: Dark War” is an officially licensed ARPG mobile game based on the hit anime series inspired by Sui Ishida’s dark fantasy manga.

The game takes place in the sinister version of Tokyo portrayed in the anime series, and allows the player to form a team composed of ghouls, or the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG) investigators sworn to eliminate them, as they battle their way through many story and boss stages.

Players battle through the dark Tokyo streets, Anteiku, the CCG Laboratory and other familiar settings from the anime. Return to the world of Tokyo Ghoul with story scenes featuring clips from the original anime.

You can assemble a team from over 50 different characters, including Ken Kaneki, Touka Kirishima, and other popular anime characters. Even if characters belong to opposing sides, they can fight side by side on your team as you build the strongest combinations.

This is a mobile game and that means micro-transactions, but the current reviews don’t seem to to bring up outside a few outliers. We shall see how that changes as players continue to dive deeper into the game.

So far the only big issue players are having is with logging into server so that they can play the game. We’ll see how well the current love for the game holds out after a few weeks. Multiplayer and competitive modes will also be available soon, with more details revealed later.
