UbiSoft announces Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Assassin's Creed Syndicate

The Assassin’s Creed series of games have quickly gone from being one of the best new IP’s in decades, to almost as quickly becoming the next Madden with yearly iterations slowly killing the once beloved franchise. Still, Black Flag was a lot of fun –a bit sticky on the controls, but fun nonetheless– and while Unity was a mess from day one, the basics the this series relies on still holds a lot of fun. Assassin's Creed Syndicate It looks as if UbiSoft is trying to mix things up with its latest announcement for the next entry into the series, Syndicate. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will take place in London, circa 1868 during the height of the industrial revolution. The game this time around will feature two playable characters, Jacbob and Evie Frye, twins with very different play styles. UbiSoft is stating that the Jacob will have a more “brash” play-style and is more “hot-headed” than his sister. Speaking of Evie, she is being billed as “a relentless Assassin” who is a master of stealth. The cool thing is that you’ll be able to swap between characters on the fly during play. No word on how this will work, –I’m thinking GTA 5 style– but players will be forced into a specific character during defined missions. Assassin's Creed Syndicate Even bigger news that puts a smile on my face is that Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be a single-player only affair. No more dealing with needless multiplayer aspects that always bog down the single-player experience, but more so take away development time from the core of the game. Ubisoft is is saying the choice to drop multiplayer is too put the focus, “…on creating the biggest city based open-world that we’ve ever had for an Assassin’s Creed game.”
