An updated Kinect 2.0 comes to Windows… because

The Kinect is back with version 2.0 and it’s making its way onto the PC. You heard us right, Kinect 2.0 features… features… Well, it now comes without the Xbox logo on the face, so there’s that. Not only does it “NOT” feature the Xbox branding, but Kinect 2.0 also will retail at a staggering  $199.

While there is little software that takes advantage of the Kinect in a meaningful way on the Xbox One, there is currently “ZERO” titles that support any Kinect 2.0 features on the PC. We can’t even recommend it as a standalone webcam at that ridiculous price. What’s even worse is that gamers who predominantly use a PC (Count me in that pile) don’t often have copious amounts of space on or around their desks to jump around like an idiot getting a Kinect game to function.

Kinect 2.0 is currently targeted at developers who have been clamoring to implement Kinect support into their projects. One second, I’m getting a correction on that last sentence. Uh huh… Yeah… I see… And you say this joke wont work in print… Gotcha. I’m being told that the first sentence in this paragraph should actually read as follows:

Kinect 2.0 is currently targeted at ‘THE ZERO’ developers who have been clamoring to implement Kinect support into their projects

If you really do want to try your hand at Kinect 2.0 for Windows you can pick up a retail SKU on July 15th. Oh, and remember that Kinect 2.0 only works,

“with applications developed for Kinect for Windows v2”

Nobody wants to do this
Nobody wants to do this
