Other Nominees! Fight for our amusement!
This is Us, the hit NBC drama, just had one of its 11 Emmy nominations revoked. Specifically its nomination for “Outstanding Contemporary Costumes”. Due to a slight technicality after the fact.
To qualify for the category, a show must submit an episode which has 51% of its action taking place within the past 25 years. The episode of This is Us in question, “Moonshadow”, features a large number of flashbacks to the 70’s. And, unfortunately, the episode misses that mark due to that fact.
HBO’s Big Little Lies, Fox’s Empire, Netflix’s Grace and Frankie and Amazon’s Transparent all retain their nominations. Though, the floating free space will be filled with a replacement soon.
The Emmys will run September 17 on CBS.
