Windows 10 Is Installing Office Web Apps Without Permission Or Restart Prompts

Windows 10

Just does it without your say so.

Wile mandatory updates have been a thing in the past, the most recent spate have been rankling users. Per Windows LatestZDNetThe Verge and even everyday users, Windows 10 is forcing updates simply to add Microsoft Office web apps that launch in Edge to the start menu. and this isn’t just Windows Insiders; people are seeing it in the standard release.

The most irritating fact is that it’s doing so and restarting your PC without so much as a by-your-leave. While mandatory updates would, in the past, at least ask you first, giving you time to save precious data before wasting the next X number of minutes watching it install and restart. Moreover, they’re not asking you first for this, or at least telling you what the update is for. They’re just doing it.

Mandatory updates for Windows 10 were, in the past, a necessity: they insured stability and protection for users against security risks. But they’re being used to shill Microsoft’s productivity suite now, instead.

Fantastic. Good Job, guys.
