WWE NXT Recap & Results 4/17/14

Welcome to our first WWE NXT Recap & Results here at GAMbIT!  We are going to give you full insights and thoughts on matches and storylines going on throughout the WWE Universe today, along with talking about the future up and coming superstars.  I will be rating the matches from a scale of 1-5 and give you what you need to know on what happens each night, along with my thoughts about the product today.  So let’s do this!!! (Brock Lesnar Voice)

Opening:

The best part of NXT is that the commentators (William Regal, Tom Phillips, Renee Young, Byron Saxton) welcome you and just start with the matches, no fancy charade or bolsterin. Granted, William Regal did have a hilarious comment when Renee questioned him with the choice of color he wore, “Simon Pink? It makes all the girls weep!”

Big Cass vs. Aiden English

Big Cass makes his entrance; he looks like a mafia dons kid every time I see him. He is followed out by Aiden English with his singing shtick. I don’t really like his singing of Broadway tunes, but this week he did sound like he was signing some Evita … WWE style of course. Not let’s get it on with the wrestling. Both men start off going back and forth with the hits, and then Cass throws English to the corner. Massive right hand by Cass to top it off with a knee to the gut. At this point, Cass is on fire as he does the Big Chop.

English tries to hit his few chops to the chest, but he gets tossed into the ropes for his efforts. Cass comes again and lands English with a running knee to the face! At this point, I’m glued to my screen! English finally makes his comeback, landing a boot to the head and a diving forearm to the face of Cass. English kicks him in the face and goes for the cover, but only gets 2. English then cokes Cass in the middle of the ring as Cass was trying to pull a come back with a whirl slam. He tries again, but English counters for a roll up and gets the win. The wrestling term we say as fans is that was a chicken sh*t win, but it was a good one.

We go backstage and get a small interview with Taylor Breeze. Sadly, it really wasn’t a interview, it was just Taylor trolling us saying how we need to see someone gorgeous.

We also get a video package of Paige and her win of the Divas title followed by an interview with her from Raw where she goes on about how much these titles means to her, and how she has been studying the Divas, and that why she holds both titles now. After watching this, I do have some what more faith in the Divas Division. Hopefully, when AJ Lee comes back we can see the two go at it, along with Sasha Banks and her in NXT.

Camacho vs. Oliver Grey

Very quick match here. It was all about Camacho sending a message to Adam Rose. He really believes that life is not a party, and he sends that message nice and clear through Oliver Grey, who has been out of action for almost a year after ripping his ACL. Gray was looking strong in the beginning of the match, with a number of back elbows and drop kicks. Once Gray began working on Camacho’s arm was the moment Grey starting hitting back with chops and a nice running power bomb. He tries to pin Grey, but only for a 2 count. Camacho wasn’t having it, as he tells Grey to keep hitting him, but gets him with a massive Samoan drop for the win. Better watch out Adam!

Winner: Camacho

We head backstage with Devin, who is joined by Bo Dallas (ugh). Bo continues on saying how the occupy NXT movement didn’t go how he wanted, but we should not stop Bo-leaving. Bo stated that his journey would never die for getting back the NXT title, and neither is the Bo Movement.

The Ascension vs. Wesley Blake and Cal Bishop

If you watch NXT, you already know who would win this match already. No one has dared to beat The Ascension yet, and I’m pretty sure no one can at this moment and Wesley Blake and Cal Bishop didn’t change that tonight. Blake just stood around and bailed, as Viktor gets tagged in going after Blake with uppercuts and chops.

As soon as they get back to the ring, Viktor throws Blake to the corner and tags back in Konnor. Konnor rains down stomps on Blake and tags back in Viktor, hitting a massive clothesline and tagging back in Konnor again (a lot of tagging right?)! Viktor goes and knocks out Bishop, following up with his The Fall of Man maneuver for the 1,2,3. At this point I am wanting more from these guys, kind of tried watching them win so easy though. Time to change that up WWE, please!

Winner: The Ascension

We head backstage to see the BFF (Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair), saying how Charlotte is going to be the one taking down every Diva on her way up, and how next week she would be in a tag team with Sasha. We can tell they are starting to build up tension between Sasha and Charlotte for a future match. Charlotte even ended by saying it’s time for NXT to have more Flair. That was the point when I turned into a little fan boy.

**Promo**

CJ Parker comes to the ring and gives us this lame promo saying in his perfect world there would be no litter in his street and no animals in his zoos. You know, standard hippie stuff. The only Hippie I ever liked was Dude Love, and sadly, CJ Parker is not one that I think I can ever like. The crowd keeps booing him as he speaks as The Great Khali finally makes his way to the ring.

CJ Parker vs. The Great Khali

CJ comes out looking strong, hitting Khali with a number of chops left and right, but Khali manages to knock him down to the mat. Khali proceeds to pick CJ up and throw him into the corner,  following up with a massive chop that can be heard around the arena. At this point Khali throws him to the ground, CJ seems to be honestly hurt as he eneded up hitting his head on the mat. CJ acts quickly heading to the middle ropes and comes back with some hits. Khali pushes CJ, but comes up short, as CJ lands a drop kick.

While Khali is down, CJ goes up to the top ropes, but Khali manages to give another big chop to CJ mid-air. Khali then lands a big boot, followed up with a clothesline. He then lifts CJ up and gives him The Punjabi Plunge for the win! This might be the end of CJ Parker … thank you wrestling gods if that is the case.

Winner: The Great Khali

We go backstage to Emma saying she has not found her tag partner that would go up against Sasha Banks & Charlotte Flair… or has she? She smiles and walks away.

We also get to see Sami Zyan. He said he will not question the ref’s decision from two weeks ago, but he is looking forward to next week when he tags with The Usos vs. Corey Graves and The Ascension. He continue saying that he doesn’t like the stage that Graves is in and that he needs to be put in his place, and that he will be the one to do it.

Jason Jordan and Ty Dillinger vs. Baron Corbin and Sawyer Fulton

This is actually my first time seeing Jordan and Dillinger, and before watching this I knew they were good, but not that damn good. Jordan starts off trying to taking down Corbin, but he comes back with a sharp elbow and headlock. Jordan goes and tags Ty for a double drop kick (great team work). Ty goes at it, until Corbin hits him with a big clothesline, he tries to pin him but only gets a 2 count. Ty is fighting back now,  but Fulton hits him with a knee to the neck. Fulton then throws him and tags back in Corbin; both go to Ty and give him a big stalling suplex.

Corbin covers, but only gets a 2. Ty begins fighting back again, but gets a big scoop slam from Corbin. Ty then manages to tag in Jordan, while Corbin tags in Fulton, and the two really go at it. At this point, Jordan is going crazy with all the body drops to Fulton. Corbin jumps into the ring to save Fulton, but Jordan hits him with a drop kick. Ty is not tagged in, but he and Jordan do something pretty amazing at this point. They both do a double team DDT and TY goes for the pin 1,2,3! This match was spot on for the fact that both teams shine and for that I would give it the match of the night.

Winner: Jason Jordan and Ty Dillinger

We quickly go to the main event.

Brodus Clay vs. Adrian Neville

I have no idea what Brodus Clay is doing in NXT, but I guess it is the only way for him to be called a Main Event Playa. The match starts with Brodus pushing Neville, but Neville comes back with a quick kick to the legs. Brodus throws Neville to the corner but our NXT champ is too quick for that. Neville jumps on Brodus’s back, but Brodus quickly throws him off. Neville hits Brodus with a boot, and then goes off the top rope.

Brodus catches him and then slams him for a pin, but only enough for the 2 count. Neville fights back with kicks to the leg, but Brodus goes for a power bomb; which Neville gets out of before it’s too late. Neville starts attacking Brodus and hits him with a drop kick to his leg. Neville heads to the ropes to hit Brodus with a beautiful superman punch from the top rope. Leaving Brodus layed out, Neville finds the opportunity to go to the top rope to go for the 450, but Brodus moves out of the way and Neville lands on his feet. Brodus goes for a head-butt to Neville’s chest and causes Neville to fall out of the ring. Brodus heads out and gives Neville another big scoop slam, and then heads to the steel steps. Brodus goes out with an elbow from the steel steps, but Neville moves at the last second. Meanwhile the ref is counting away when both of these men are down. Neville and Brodus are out, but Neville wakes up and hear the ref making it to the 7 count. He rushes back to the ring before the ref counts 10. Neville wins via count out.  Brodus is pissed! He tries to get back to the ring to give Neville a beat down, but Neville hits him with a dropkick. Neville poses, as Brodus leaves mad as hell.

Winner: Adrian Neville
