Xbox Backwards Compatibility on Track for 2017

Xbox Backwards Compatibility

You should be able to get them before the end of the year.

Xbox One’s backwards compatibility is on the way. As a matter of fact, several titles should show up by the end of the year. And Phil Spencer is constantly updated on which games are getting approvals and which are already on the way.

We’re close, we’re really close […] I have a little dashboard I go to and I can see all the games [and] where they are in getting approvals in the pipeline. I know the games that are coming for the original Xbox but I don’t think we’ve announced them all. We have to do this in partnership with partners, but we’re still on track. I feel really good. The games look great.

The two announced games thus far are Crimson Skies and Fusion Frenzy. But, as usual, Reddit may have uncovered a few more. User HiPanda123 found a few titles lurking in the hubs for original Xbox games:

  • King of Fighters: Neowave
  • Dead to Rights
  • Red Faction II

Granted, these are all going to run off their original code, so things like widescreen and achievements aren’t going to be working. And there won’t be quite the amount of support that Xbox 360 games are getting. But you will be able to enjoy them all over again. And that’s the important part.
