Batman v Superman gets “R” rated Ultimate Edition

Batman v Superman

Movie studios have no idea what the hell they are doing most of the time. Deadpool took years of pressure from fans and those involved to get into production, and even then there were issues with making sure the film got an R rating instead of the more lucrative PG-13. Now that Deadpool has made more money than FOX could ever imagine off its minuscule budget, other studios are taking the wrongs lessons from the film.

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has released information that shows they have slapped “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition”  with an R rating. Let’s ignore the fact that anything with Superman in it getting an R rating stands against EVERYTHING that the character has stood for in his entire history in comics and film. I won’t even get into the fact the Batman is firmly against killing. This news just shows how off-base Zack Snyder is and how messy this DC movie universe is.

Instead of focusing on great stories and seeing where the ratings may fall, the studio is simply looking to cash in on the R rating craze set by Deadpool. What most of us don;t remember is that Deadpool is far from the first R rated superhero film. It is simply the first to see wide mainstream success. This success has nothing to do with the violence (okay, maybe a little) and instead works because Deadpool has always been an R rated book.

I guess we can expect a lot of blood and a Wonder Woman nip slip in this edition. Thanks for ruining the DC trinity, Warner Bros.
