Adam Sandler signs four-picture deal with Netflix

Man, Netflix wasted no time going all Hollywood on our asses. They jumped right into the sequel game with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend, and now they’re looking to appeal to the lowest common denominator, as they’ve signed Adam Sandler to produce and star in four original films.

Here’s what Sandler had to say about it:

“When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said ‘yes’ for one reason and one reason only… Netflix rhymes with ‘wet chicks,’” Sandler said in a prepared statement. “Let the streaming begin!”

I don’t know exactly what he meant by that “wet chicks” statement either, but if that’s the kind of humor we can look forward to, I’m already depressed.

This is a good move on Netflix’s part, because as Variety points out, Sandler’s movies have grossed around $3.9 billion worldwide. That’s an insane number. Unfortunately, since Sandler has even admitted that he just makes movies as a way to take vacations now, I think we’re staring down the barrel of Grown-Ups 3, 4, 5, and 6.
