Adam West Star of TV’s ‘Batman’ Dies at 88

Adam West, the man who donned the cowl in the 1960s television version of Batman, has dies. He was 88-years-old.

The actor served as a pop culture icon since his turn as the caped crusader, and while he never really ever broke from Hollywood typecasting because of the role, the actor continued to work and continue with the Batman universe.

He most recently lent his voice to a new Batman animated film for DC based on his 1960 Batman series, and spent a lot of time in recent years attending a number of major comic conventions promoting his work an career.

West died late Friday evening, surrounded by family in Los Angeles after a short battle battle with leukemia, a family spokesperson reported.
