Alec Baldwin Cast As Thomas Wayne In Joker Movie

Joker

Spoiler Alert: he dies at the end.

Alec Baldwin has been cast as the Joker movie’s Thomas Wayne, opposite Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character.

Normally, Thomas Wayne is a noble, reserved figure; the impetus of Bruce’s desire to do good. Baldwin’s portrayal is seemingly set to be nothing like that. According to The Hollywood Reporter:

[…] this being a movie project that will veer off-center from the traditional Batman canon, sources say the script paints Thomas Wayne as a cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of a 1980s Donald Trump.

Oh boy, there sure isn’t enough of that going around, is there? Remember how after True Grit, Jeff Bridges couldn’t seem to stop sounding like Rooster Cogburn? Is this happening to Alec Baldwin, only with Donald Trump?

Ah, well, either way, this movie seems more reserved, budget-wise. Or at least, as far as special effects go, as Robert De Nero has also been tapped for a role in the film. Probably already has Batman V Superman beat, what with that “Save Martha” scene.
