First off, I need to say that I am just a tad bit biased going into this post. I love science fiction film, especially those in the vain of Blade Runner (my all time favorite film) and I love seeing someone of Spanish decent (Antonio Banderas) taking a lead role in a genre that rarely acknowledges any minority.
Automata stars Antonio Banderas and takes place in the near future of 2044, in a time where the planet is in a state of ruin after years of environmental abuse.
The film sees Banderas as an accident investigator who finds that a number of robots have started to break the first protocol. He discovers that they are beginning to gain a for of sentience and group together as a people.
Automata opens October 10th.
