Baz Luhrmann might make a movie about Elvis

Baz Luhrmann, director of Moulin Rouge, one of the shittiest movies in the history of film,  is in talks to direct a movie about Elvis Presley. Man, this is gonna be weird with a hip-hop soundtrack.

Via TheWrap:

Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis is in the building — as in, the Warner Bros. building — and director Baz Luhrmann is in negotiations to join the iconic singer, who is the subject of an untitled biopic being written by Kelly Marcel (“Fifty Shades of Grey”), TheWrap has learned.

Great job on that “in the building” joke, guys. Luhrmann is also possibly directing an adaptation of the TV series Kung Fu for some reason. I think Leo is a little too old to play Cain.

It’s funny this news should come a day after I compared Elvis and Marilyn Monroe‘s fanbases. And this has already been pointed out, but we’re never going to see a better version of Elvis than Val Kilmer in True Romance.
