Behind the Music of SOMA

SOMA

Music and sound is such an important part of video games, yet it can easily be overlooked in this modern-day and age. It sometimes feels like we are one of the few outlets that even place part of our overall review criteria on the sound design. While music is important, it is doubly so when it comes to horror games, as they often live and die by their sound design alone.

Frictional Games is no stranger to this with the sound and music they implement within their games. The upcoming horror game SOMA is no different in this regard, and the team have just released a short video giving us a behind the scenes look at just how all those lovely sounds take shape.

Join composer Mikko Tarmia for a look (and listen) behind the unsettling score of SOMA, the upcoming descent into horror from Frictional Games, creators of the Amnesia and Penumbra series.

Coming September 22nd, SOMA is now available for PC pre-order on Steam and GOG.com. Pre-order customers will receive 10% off the normal price of $29.99.
