Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the Star Wars movie franchise, was rushed to an LA hospital on Friday after suffering a heart attack during an incoming flight.
The last statement we received from the family was that the actress was in stable condition just prior to Christmas day.
A family spokesperson made the following statement regarding the death:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.”
“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly,” says Lourd. “Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
