Independence Day: Resurgence is a film that didn’t need to happen, but one that I am okay with. Yes, the last one tied everything up with a nice bow as Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith uploaded a computer virus into the alien motherhood that was apparently running Mac OS 6.1.
Still, there was always the possibility that these aliens would return and get revenge on the planet, and it looks like that’s the core premise behind Independence Day: Resurgence. The film seems to be taking a much more serious tone this time around, although most of the original main cast minus Smith seems to be back in some form.
