Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation being adapted into film

Those of us of a certain age will know that one of the things that defined the late 80s/early 90s was the epic battle that was waged between the two main video game powerhouses, Nintendo and Sega. This period of conflict would come to be known as the Console Wars. While our parents may have been busy worrying about a real war (Desert Storm) the youth of my generation were busy pitting Mario against Sonic.

It would seem that this large piece of video game history will soon be brought to the big screen by the talents of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg who are best known for their filmmaking prowess in the stoner genre of films. Titled “Console Wars” the film will be based on the book by Blake J. Harris who will also serve as executive producer on the project.

According to Comingsoon.net, Sony Pictures and The Social Network producer Scott Rudin have announced they are currently developing the Blake Harris book Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation into a movie. Rudin previously adapted the book Moneyball into a major motion picture starring Brad Pitt and was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.
