Dean Winters joins cast of Vince Gilligan’s Battle Creek

Vince Gilligan created a show you might have heard of called Breaking Bad, so if I had my way I’d report on what he had for his goddamn breakfast. We’ve known for a while that his next project will be called Battle Creek, produced for CBS with the assistance of House‘s David Shore.

Now Dean Winters has joined the series as its co-lead, according to The Hollywood Reporter. You should know Winters from Law & Order: SVU, 30 Rock, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, or those ubiquitous Allstate commercials where he plays Mayhem. On Battle Creek he’ll be playing Russ, described as “smart, tough, impatient, and pragmatic,” which could pretty much describe any Dean Winters character.

He’s joining a cast that already includes Kal Penn and Janet McTeer (an Oscar nominee for Albert Nobbs, the stupidest movie in the world). The only principal character left to cast is “Milton,” an FBI Agent with whom Winters’ Russ has to team up. Who do you think would make a good fit?
