Disneyland To Close In Response to Coronavirus

The Walt Disney Company released a statement that Disneyland and California Adventure parks will close on Saturday (3/14/20) in only the fourth time in company history.

The parks will be closed through the rest of the month in response to the spread of the coronavirus. Disney made it clear that no cases of the virus have been reported at the resort and that this is only a precaution.

Refunds for hotel bookings will be refunded and the company stated that it will continue to pay its employees during the closure. All this comes as the NBA and other major sports organizations are shuttering their seasons.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom released a statement saying that gatherings of 250 or more people “should be canceled or postponed” to slow the spread of the coronavirus across the state.

“After carefully reviewing the guidelines of the governor of California’s executive order and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure,” the company said in a statement.
