1997 ‘Blade Runner’ Game Getting Remastered

The 1997 Blade Runner PC adventure game holds a special place in my heart. It’s also bloody fantastic even though a whole lot of people missed out on it at the time. Blade Runner is a masterpiece of a film but in 97 it didn’t hold the same impact that it does now.

Over the years the game gained cult status, having a lot to do with the fact that the game never released on any digital storefront. Up until 2019, it was the only game in my collection that I still had to install on an old machine to play; something that I did on a yearly basis.

Thankfully GOG got ahold of the game and released it on its storefront after years and years of license issues and having to build the game from reverse-engineered code as the source code was lost. So, go out and give it a try right now t see what you have missed. But for those that already love the game, you can rest easy because the title is getting a remaster for PC and consoles.

The remaster is being handled by Nightdive Studios, the team behind the System Shock and Turok remasters. No hard release date has been given but the studio says the remaster will drop sometime later this year.
