They got more than just those two things, too.

Hackers have managed to force their way into EA’s servers and steal over 780GB of data. Notably, this includes the source code for FIFA 21, as well as the Frostbite Engine, which is being used in the recently announced Battlefield 2042. This has all been confirmed by EA.

Per Motherboard, the hackers also managed to pick up a number of frameworks and SDK’s (software development kits) for EA’s games as well. The hackers have already posted the lot for sale in a number of underground hacking forums.

From an EA spokesperson speaking to Motherboard:

We are investigating a recent incident of intrusion into our network where a limited amount of game source code and related tools were stolen. No player data was accessed, and we have no reason to believe there is any risk to player privacy. Following the incident, we’ve already made security improvements and do not expect an impact on our games or our business. We are actively working with law enforcement officials and other experts as part of this ongoing criminal investigation.
