The First (And Only?) Trailer For ‘Max Steel’ Is Here

Max Steel has been in the development hell since back in 2009. Hell, I remember seeing a signing going on at San Diego Comic-Con a few years back. It was at a tiny little booth, but still, it happened.

Well, it looks like the first trailer has finally arrived, but for whatever reason it comes from Japan. Weirdly enough the film is supposed to open this October, so odds are the studio knows it’s a stinker and was forced to get it out the door.

To be fair, they aren’t wrong as the trailer looks terrible. Oh, the acting seems pretty standard for one of those YA films, but the it clearly shows this thing has been through for editors than your average reality show.

That being said there is some promise to the film as it does exude brief hints of awesomeness at times. Max Steel, for those that don’t know, is a toy line from Hasbro that was popular for a few years in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

This incarnation features Max getting his powers/suit from his dad(?) and finding a cool little robot companion. Of course things go downhill pretty quick as Max’s robot friend sounds like it’s voiced by some random guy the picked off the street and recorded in a bathroom, with the mic from the first generation iPhone.

Do any of you out there remember Max Steel, and does this trailer fit with the original toy line and cartoon? It’s all pretty vague to me, but I don’t remember the weird sc-fi thing.
