The Weinstein Company has released the first trailer for The Giver, based on the classic Lois Lowry book we all read in middle school. The Giver is something a young adult hipster would love today: “I was into dystopia before it was cool.” Today’s generation of YA readers are going to be really confused when they find out that there won’t be a sequel and there’s no love triangle.
Taylor Swift is in this too, so we can all look forward to her hit single about the craft services guy who broke her heart because they were out of scones.
The Giver is directed by Philip Noyce (Patriot Games) and will hit theaters on August 15.
