First trailer for Neill Blomkamp’s Chappie

I didn’t know much about Chappie, director Neill Blomkamp’s follow-up to District 9 and Elysium, other than it’s about a robot and it co-stars Die Antwoord, because South Africa. But holy shit does this trailer make it look amazing.

Chappie is the story of the titular robot (mo-capped and voiced by Blomkamp’s muse Sharlto Copley), invented by Dev Patel, who slowly gains sentience and consciousness, even though that dick Hugh Jackman wants to take him out. So, Short Circuit, but without all the douchey nostalgia. Anyway, check out the trailer and try not to get chills:
