Geoff Keighley Steps Away From Hosting E3

Geoff Keighley

Guess we wait for the puff of white smoke, now.

There are always something going around about the state of E3. Sony not being there this year made the rounds, and rumors of Nintendo bowing out were unfounded. But the news right now concerns Geoff Keighley: the Doritos Pope will not be hosting E3 Coliseum this year. Per his Twitter:

There’s no real elaboration on why, though. That hasn’t stopped people from speculating (incorrectly) that it’s another nail in the coffin for the show. But we’ve said it before, and will say it again; E3 is not the showfloor, but the showfloor is E3. Devs not having booths, Geoff Keighley not being there doesn’t change the fact that you are, typically, not privy to the goings on of the real E3: the business deals and meetings between the powers that be in those little conference rooms upstairs.

Nonetheless, we’ll miss you, Doritos Pope.
