Grand Theft Auto 4 Quietly Pulled From Steam

Drunk simulator Grand Theft Auto 4 was quietly removed from sale on Steam. This was discovered by fans over the weekend, but Rockstar has a reason for the delisting of the title.

The company noted that “Grand Theft Auto IV was originally created for the Games For Windows Live platform,” and that “With Microsoft no longer supporting Games For Windows Live, it is no longer possible to generate the additional keys needed to continue selling the current version of the game. We are looking at other options for distributing GTAIV for PC and will share more information as soon as we can.”

The store page for the game is still live on Steam, with only the purchase button being removed for the time being. The game originally released on PC back in 2008 and I spent many hours stumbling around drunk, going on dates, and doing my best to ignore my cousin instead of writing my college papers.

The disaster known as Games for Windows Live ended back in 2014 saving future generations from the pain of hoping your game would load and that your log-in information would be accepted, something that only happened once in a blue moon.
