Helicopter combat game HELIBORNE takes flight

We have word that helicopter game Heliborne will leave Early Access on Steam and flaunt it’s new features as a full release on October 12th priced at $24.99. The publisher and developer will provide continuous support for the game after launch, consisting of free patches and paid DLC. Steam Workshop has also been implemented in the game, allowing players to unleash their creativity and customize their machines.

Heliborne looks to offer a balance between arcade and simulation flight models. During development the creators sought help from an expert, Major Mackevich Valery Genrihovich, a graduate of the top air force school in Russia, with whom they discussed military aspects of the game, including the flight model and helicopter combat tactics.

Thanks to the major, Heliborne has a strong focus on realism and historical accuracy, but also manages to couple it with action-focused gameplay. The flight model itself offers over 70 varied aspects of physics and flight specificity with each and every aircraft, including momentum and inertia. The gameplay mechanics in Heliborne are a combination of features typical for simulators. The game boasts outstanding flight physics and perfectly rendered gunships, intense action on the battlefield, with dynamic combat, varied gameplay modes, and progressive missions.

In Heliborne players will fly 50 legendary helicopters, with machines from the 1950s to modern times, divided into three types: combat, stealth and transport. Fans will also get the chance to learn more about the development of rotary-wing aircraft, with the game showing the different historical periods, focusing on the technological innovations that changed helicopter combat over the years.

Players will fight across six open maps, including The Gulf of Tonkin (Vietnam), Operation Nguyen Hue (Vietnam), Badakhshan Province (Afghanistan), Khost Province (Afghanistan), Kosovo and a training map. Heliborne offers three exciting types of gameplay: single, co-operation (up to 4 players), and open maps for competitive multiplayer mode (up to 16 players).
