HIDEit Mounts Console Mounts – Review

With console generations getting shorter, odds are your entertainment center is getting a bit more cramped. And if your at the age with disposable income –I have enough to afford Taco Bell on occasion– it’s probably safe to bet you have a few consoles taking up some space under the TV.

But what happens when you want to make some room, or even want to hide away some of those consoles? Well, HIDEit Mounts has the solution with their wide range of wall mounts for a variety of consoles and all sorts of other electronics that take up space under your TV.

From the Microsoft Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii, to the modern incarnations of all those consoles, HIDEit Mounts has a wall mount for you. Not only that, but they also offer mounts for your controllers so everything can be displayed in style. And after having installed a number of mounts behind my television/monitor, you can bet it makes for some interesting conversation when people stop by.

The HIDEit Mounts system works best for those people out there that really want to keep a very clean setup around your television. You can get some pretty impressive looks by having your PS4 or Xbox One peak out from the side of that massive 50-inch television.

So fresh and so clean.

But the mounts themselves go far beyond just gaming with options for DVD players, cable boxes, and all sorts of streaming devices. Chances are that any device you have hooked up to your television has a mount for it. Or you could even use the Universal Mount to get almost anything mounted. I really need to see if one fits my 3DO!

The range is pretty impressive, but the universal mounts are going to look a bit bulky because of all the extra metal bits needed to adjust to a non-standard device. But if you are using the mounts to hide your devices away it’s not a big deal. And if your device is already black –most are– then it’s not all that noticeable.

When showing off the Xbox One S or PS4 you can get something really low-profile (see above) and take your console from a simple gaming and entertainment console and turn it into a near work of art, especially if you have a nice skin on your machine. The HIDEit Mounts come with everything you need to get yourself set up right in the package with screws and mounting brackets. All you need are a couple of basic tools.

Universal mounts are a bit more work as expected.

I’m not very savvy with the handyman sort of thing –I play games for a living– but it’s incredibly easy to mount even the slightly more complicated Universal Mounts. If you have a mount designed for a specific device it’s as easy as leveling the mount and drilling a few holes without any sort of measuring or adjusting the machine.

The Universal Mounts take a little more work and measuring of your device thanks to all the extra bits, but even a novice like myself manged to get it all mounted just fine on the first try with each mount. A drill and level are highly recommended, but I suppose you can just eyeball it if you don’t find uniformity all that important.

But the one question everyone probably has is just how much do these mounts cost? The low-profile mounts designed for each console vary in price, but $29.99 seems to be the average for the modern consoles which it a great price.

The Universal Mounts are going to cost you $54.99 which does seem like a bit much, but unless you have something really oddly shaped, or want your 360 mounted, there are cheaper options to be had from HIDEit Mounts.

They look like they’re just floating!

I’ve seen a couple of wall mounting options over the years and they have always made me fear for the life of my console and gave me some serious agita looking at them. They were either custom builds that cost and arm and a leg, or they involved bungee cords that I wouldn’t trust to hold a Game Boy knockoff.

The HIDEit Mounts are made of steel and feel incredibly strong. Once you get over the fear of mounting things on the wall you are really going to love these little things. The best thing for me is having more desk space and not having to worry when I spill my tea in the morning because I’m not fully awake. Those things are enough reasons to justify the cost for any of these mounts.

Final Say:

“Recommended!”
