Hulk Hogan fired from WWE & scrubbed from website

Hulk-Hogan

Hulkamaniacs the world over were shocked to find nearly all traces of their “Real American Hero” removed from the WWE website. This included all merchandise that was available for sale on their online shop as well as references on the companies Tough Enough reality show website.

Hulk Hogan is no stranger to issues over the past several years, most recently with his ongoing legal feud with Gawker over his sex tape. Still, it seems that his release (firing) is related to racist remakes made several years ago that have surfaced.

The alleged “tape” shows Hogan saying some pretty damming things and dropping the n word several times. The National Enquirer (yes, we know) has released alleged direct quotes from the tape that don’t look very good. While we don’t yet know the official reason for the split, WWE has issued the following statement:

WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.

Several hours after Hogan was scrubbed clean from the WWE and its website, the former World Champion released the following statement to People Magazine:

Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs.
