Don’t get too excited, it might not enter production.
The cat’s out of the bag, so to speak. Thanks to Hyperkin Account Manager Ramon Navos-Moral who, in a bold move, posted pictures of a working prototype Portable N64 on social media.
The device itself is pretty obviously patterned after an N64 Controller. The screen doesn’t seem to have the right aspect ratio, though; I’m guessing that it’s stretched to fit, but I’m unsure. It obviously has a cartridge Game Pak slot in the back.
Hyperkin has confirmed that the device is real, but insists that that doesn’t mean it will ever see production. As for Navos-Moral, he’s obviously landed in a bit of hot water for the leak. But he hasn’t been fired, so one might imagine he got a stern talking to. Either way, a portable N64 would be pretty cool.
